Integrative Medicine for Root-Cause Care

GoodWorks Primary Care isn’t your average clinic. Our team goes beyond band-aids, prescriptions, and symptom management. Instead, we bring an Integrative approach to each appointment. That means pairing traditional primary care with Integrative and lifestyle medicine to uncover the root causes of chronic symptoms like fatigue, inflammation, digestive issues, and hormonal imbalances. Rather than masking symptoms with prescriptions alone, we focus on understanding what’s driving your health concerns in the first place.

Preventive care is a core part of our philosophy. Instead of waiting for disease to show up, we help you take proactive steps to stay well—supporting your immune system, metabolic health, cardiovascular function, and more. Regular check-ins, personalized lab testing, and in-depth conversations allow us to catch small imbalances before they become major problems.

We also use the principles of lifestyle medicine—nutrition, physical activity, sleep hygiene, stress management, social connection, and toxin reduction—to restore balance and resilience to your body. Whether you’re struggling with chronic symptoms or simply want to optimize your energy and performance, our goal is to empower you with the tools and knowledge you need to feel your best—naturally and sustainably.

Dr. Buchner completed an accredited, 2-year fellowship in integrative medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, learning from one of the top root-cause doctors in the world.

Meet Dr. Julie Buchner

Dr. Buchner

Hello, I’m Dr. Buchner, owner and lead physician at GoodWorks Primary Care.

In addition to my 18 years’ primary care experience as a Family Physician, I have completed a 1000-hour, 2-year Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, Tucson.  Integrative medicine embodies a healing-oriented approach that considers the whole person, combining conventional medical practices with evidence-based complementary therapies. Experience compassionate care that prioritizes your well-being and aligns with your values.

How can I serve you in this way? Through an innovative model called Direct Primary Care.

Direct Primary Care: Membership-Based Care

At GoodWorks, your monthly membership covers the full spectrum of primary care services, so you can access the care you need without financial surprises. There are no hidden fees, no co-pays, and no deductibles to meet—just one predictable monthly rate that gives you unlimited access to your doctor and a wide range of services.

You don’t have to worry about whether a visit is “worth the cost” or delay care due to insurance hassles. Whether you come in once a year for a wellness exam or need frequent visits to manage a chronic condition, your membership gives you the same level of support and attention every time.

This model allows us to build long-term relationships with our patients, monitor your health over time, and adapt your care plan as your needs evolve. With fewer administrative burdens and more meaningful time spent together, we can focus on what really matters: helping you live a healthier, more vibrant life.

FAQ

Our Approach

DPC is a membership-based healthcare model where you pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to your doctor. It puts the focus back on relationship-based, preventive, and proactive care.

Integrative medicine blends the best of conventional and holistic approaches to treat the whole person—mind, body, and lifestyle. We use nutrition, stress management, sleep, supplements, and other natural therapies alongside evidence-based medical care.

Yes. When specialty care is needed, we’ll help coordinate referrals and share your records with the specialist. Your membership also includes support navigating the healthcare system, whether you’re using insurance or paying cash.

Both offer personalized care and better access to your doctor. The main difference? Concierge practices typically bill insurance and charge a high annual fee. DPC is insurance-free and uses a simple, affordable monthly membership.

Membership

Yes, we are currently welcoming new patients into our DPC practice. Space is limited as we cap our membership at 300–400 patients to ensure high-quality, personalized care.

There are no extra fees for visits. Your monthly membership covers all routine appointments, extended visits, and direct communication with your doctor. It’s comprehensive care without surprise bills.

We’ve partnered with labs and imaging centers to offer discounted cash rates. If you have insurance, you can choose to use your benefits instead. We’ll help you navigate both options to find the best value.

Yes. We can access lab results, imaging, hospitalization records, and specialist notes through CHORIO or through traditional records requests when needed. We use this information to keep your care cohesive and well-informed.

While we do not have hospital admitting privileges, we can electronically access your records from local systems like PSMC and others across Colorado through the CHORIO network. This helps us stay informed and provide continuity of care even during hospital visits.

You’ll still have access to your doctor by phone, text, or virtual visit. We can help you decide if local care is needed and coordinate with any out-of-town providers when necessary.

Yes. Once you sign a Release of Information, we can electronically access your records from PSMC and most Colorado healthcare systems through CHORIO. If your care was outside of Colorado, we’ll request those records manually. Most importantly, your first visit will include a deep-dive into your health history so we understand your unique medical background—context, nuance, and all.

No. Because we don’t bill insurance, your medical records stay private and are never shared without your permission.

We limit our panel to 300–400 patients—compared to the 1,500–2,500 patients typically seen in traditional practices. This smaller panel allows us to offer longer visits, same-day appointments, and individualized attention.

We offer customizable group memberships for small businesses that want to provide healthcare benefits to their employees. It’s affordable, easy to manage, and offers real value that your team will actually use.

Insurance

You can still join GoodWorks Pagosa DPC, whether or not you have insurance. DPC is a membership-based model that works outside the insurance system, meaning we don’t bill your insurance for visits. If you do have insurance, you can often use it for prescriptions, labs, imaging, or specialist visits. If you don’t have insurance, DPC can serve as an affordable foundation for your care.

Yes. While DPC covers most of your primary care needs, we recommend you maintain insurance (or a health-sharing plan) for emergencies, hospitalization, and specialist care.

Absolutely. DPC works alongside your existing insurance. You can use it for prescriptions, labs, imaging, and any care we refer out to specialists or hospitals.

Yes. If you have Medicare, you can still become a DPC member. You’ll need to sign a one-time form acknowledging that we won’t bill Medicare for your care, and you’ll pay your DPC membership separately.

Medicare often limits the time and scope of appointments. As a DPC member, you get longer visits, personalized follow-ups, and a true partnership in your health—all outside of Medicare’s billing system.

DPC itself does not qualify as insurance under the ACA. We recommend pairing your DPC membership with a high-deductible health plan or health-sharing ministry for full coverage.

No Insurance, No Problem

You don’t need insurance to get great care. In fact, many of our patients have high-deductible plans or no insurance at all. With DPC, you can finally afford regular check-ins, early intervention, and the peace of mind that comes from having a doctor who actually knows you.

People who have Medicare, Tricare, commercial insurance, high deductible health plans, health sharing ministries, or self pay can all participate. People may use their HSA/FSA dollars to pay for membership.
